Properly serviced lubrication equipment plays a critical role in maintaining efficient conveyor operation. With consistent lubrication, systems experience less downtime because components run more smoothly and are less likely to fail unexpectedly. In addition, proper lubrication helps increase the longevity of critical components by reducing wear on chains, trolleys, carriers, and drive chains. As friction is minimized, energy consumption can also decrease, since less amperage is required to run the line. Furthermore, maintaining the correct amount of lubrication helps reduce part contamination, keeping both equipment and products cleaner. Specific Inspections Include:
- Check lubricant level in tank
- Check pump/pressure switch on tank and set to proper operating parameters.
- Check indicator lights on tank and lubricator – replace if needed.
- Check lubricator head on conveyor(s) and drives
- Check dispensing tubes and sensors – adjust and clean as needed
- Inspect chain / trolley for proper amounts of lubrication – adjust as needed
- Monitor system to reduce and/or eliminate oil drippage on parts or floor
